Agile Data Warehouse Design covers step-by-step techniques for capturing data warehousing/business intelligence (DW/BI) requirements and turning them into high performance dimensional models in the most direct way: by modelstorming (data modeling + brainstorming) with BI stakeholders.
Agile techniques emphasise the early and frequent delivery of working software, stakeholder collaboration, responsiveness to change and waste elimination. They have revolutionised application development and are increasingly being adopted by DW/BI teams. This course provides practical tools and techniques for applying agility to the design of database schemas – the earliest needed and most important working software for BI.
The course contrasts agile and non-agile DW/BI development and highlights the inherent failings of traditional BI requirements analysis and data modeling. Via class room sessions and team exercises attendees will discover how modelstorming (modeling + brainstorming) data requirements directly with BI stakeholders overcomes these limitations.
The course teaches BEAM (Business Event Analysis & Modeling), an agile approach to dimensional modeling, for improving communication between data designers, BI stakeholders and the whole DW/BI development team. BEAM provides tools and techniques that will encourage designers and developers to set aside their keyboards and entity relationship based tools and model interactively with their business stakeholders and colleagues. The result is everyone thinks dimensionally from the initial high level data requirements right down to detailed datasets. Developers understand how to efficiently implement dimensional modeling solutions. Business stakeholders feel ownership of the models they co-create and can already imagine how they will use them to answer their business questions.
BEAM helps close the gap between the business users’ data requirements and database design. It allows groups of business and IT professionals to model data collaboratively to not only gather and prioritize data requirements but create a shared understanding of data analytics opportunities and design more flexible BI solutions.
Join Lawrence Corr, author of the DW/BI bestseller Agile Data Warehouse Design for a lively three-day collaborative dimensional modeling course covering the latest agile techniques for systematically gathering Business Intelligence (BI) requirements and designing effective DW/BI systems.

The virtual seminars and workshops will be offered through an online meeting platform, usually Webex or Zoom, from our video studio. The virtual classroom is equipped with multiple professional cameras and microphones and we have a two person crew available so that we can offer a similar experience to that of the traditional classroom and, more important, still offer adequate interaction with the speaker.
The presenter / trainer will still use his Powerpoint, combined with flipchart and paper, virtual whiteboard and physical whiteboard and will be accompanied by a operator / moderator at the scene. The presenter does not have to worry about technical issues such as switching, splitting, microphone settings and such but can fully focus on the course material and on engaging with the online attendees.
All of the above is to ensure that it does not become an impersonal one-way webinar but an interactive virtual classroom setting.
Those attending an online event or a hybrid event with the online meeting platform will be sent an invitiation with the meeting hyperlink and instructions a few days before, so well in advance of the course.
We may offer this course online as well, in which case you can indicate upon registration whether you would like to attend live in our course room at the venue or online through the live video stream. However, you cannot deviate from this without prior consent from our part due to 1.5 metre restrictions with reserved seats and the price difference in registration fees.
Taking part in this workshop will only cost € 1791 when registering 30 days beforehand and € 1990 per person after the Early Bird period expires (excl. 21% Dutch VAT). This also covers documentation, lunch, coffee and the book Agile Data Warehouse Design by Lawrence Corr.
The registration fee for attending online is € 1620 when registering 30 days beforehand and € 1800 per person after the Early Bird period expires (excl. 21% Dutch VAT).
Members of the DAMA NL, Belux or UK Chapter are eligible for 10 percent discount on the registration fee.
In completing your registration form you declare that you agree with our Terms and Conditions.
Extra discounts
Discounts are available for group bookings of two or more delegates representing the same organization made at the same time. Ten percent off for the second and third delegate and fifteen percent off for all delegates when registering four or more delegates (all delegates must be listed on the same invoice).
This cannot be used in conjunction with other discounts.
Payment
Full payment is due prior to the event. An invoice will be sent to you containing our full bank details including BIC and IBAN. Your payment should always include the invoice number as well as the name of your company and the delegate name.
Payment by credit card is available for attendees from countries outside the IBAN region. This is not an automated process via our website but requires a manual transaction by phone or Skype. For Credit Card payment please contact our office by e-mail or through our contact form mentioning your phone number to obtain your credit card information. Never mention your credit card details in our registration form, contact form or in e-mail messages.
The course starts at 09.30 am and ends at 5 pm. Registration commences at 08.30 am.
